Causes of Anxiety Attacks

Most anxiety attacks originate from past traumatic experiences. This could either be through a near death experience or past history of abuse. When one goes through a life-threatening event, the body goes in to a fight or flight mode. This means you either face the threat or flee. The body also releases cortisol, the culprit hormone responsible for the attacks. This hormone increases the heart rate hence the attacks.

Symptoms of Anxiety Attacks

. Fast heart rate

Do you always feel your heat beat after running for a few meters? Well, that’s the exact

way you would feel when panicking. The anxiety that runs through your body even at

the slightest mention of public speaking, makes your heart beat faster. Relax you won’t

get a heart attack.

. Sweating profusely

. Feeling like going crazy

. Hot and cold flashes

. Feeling like vomiting or fainting

. Fear of dying from undetected illness

. Feeling detached from reality

. Treatment for anxiety attacks

. Relaxation Exercises- this helps the body to relax by returning to its original state. You

can achieve this by practising breathing exercises. Hold your breath for five seconds

then release. This brings the calming effect.

. Positive Thinking- think of better ideas that motivate you and don’t dwell on the

negative issues. Try to tune your mind on the great things life has to offer this will

further Relax your body.

. Yoga- attend yoga sessions to gain the full benefits it gives the body in- terms of

relaxation, and tuning the mind to the right direction.

. Exercises – simple exercises like walking, running, and aerobics helps the body release

the feel good hormones that further brings a happy feeling. Daily 25-30 minutes

exercise brings the body to a relaxed state by burning the anxiety feeling.

. Medication- If you have tried everything possible and it doesn’t seem to work? Please

visit a psychologist for further review on how to follow your treatment plan. With

medication and counselling, you will definitely live a normal life.

Do not fear, there are various places you can get help concerning your anxiety. This could be through a trusted friend or family member. Make sure you engage in outdoor activities because sitting lonely encourages poisonous thoughts that further worsens the situation. Finally, follow your faith be it Christianity or other religions since they have practices that calms the mind like prayers or meditation hence reducing the anxiety levels.
