Spa Treatments: Spending a Day Pampering Yourself

Spa and Wellness

Spending a day at the spa is a great way to relax, reconnect, and detox. If you plan to pamper yourself for an entire day, you should find a full-service building that offers a variety of treatments.

Massages

When you book your day at the spa, one treatment you should consider is a massage. Massages help to relax tense muscles and improve circulation to the area. In addition, during your session, your body produces endorphins, which work as a natural painkiller.

Most centers offer several different types of massages. These include the common Swedish massage, deep-tissue, and hot stone. Some also offer Thai and shiatsu massages, which help align your body’s energies by using gentle pressure on certain points of the body. Most also offer pregnancy massages to help reduce stress, relieve pain, and decrease swelling in expectant mothers.

Facials

A full-service spa will also offer facials as a service. Getting a facial can help to improve the overall look and feel of your skin on your face. While some may see a facial as an unnecessary beauty ritual, they are in fact a great way to keep your skin healthy. They clear off dead skin cells and improve circulation to your face. This gives you a more radiant look and helps to combat aging. When you have one performed by a professional, you get the added benefit of their expertise in how to treat your skin type.

Body Treatments

There are several different types of body treatments available to you. One of the more popular ones is the body wrap. The benefits of this treatment include toning, detoxifying, and skin softening. Some may even experience a temporary slimming effect from fluid loss.

While body wraps are popular, they are far from the only treatment option. Many centers have scrubs that help invigorate the targeted areas of your body. In addition to increasing circulation, the scrub helps to remove dead skin cells, detoxifying the skin. A body scrub is accomplished with sea salt and soft buffing pads.

Manicures and Pedicures

More centers have both traditional treatments and salon services. These salon services include manicures and pedicures. After you have spent a day relaxing and detoxifying your skin, you can get your nails done. Manicures allow you to have a mini hand massage while your technician polishes and cares for your nails and cuticles. Pedicures include a mini foot massage and treatment to make your feet look and feel their best.

Hair Styles

If your spa has a hair salon, you can finish your trip with a new style. Getting a cut, color, and style is a great way to end your day of rest and relaxation. If you do not have time for a full day, you could pop in to get your hair trimmed and styled before you go out for the evening.

There are many different spa treatments that you can take advantage of. Most centers have packages that allow you to choose one or more services to indulge in.
